The Roster aims to be Melbourne’s most comprehensive and informative gig guide, with extra attention paid to the home-grown shows on every night of the week. If you find the usual listings give you no impression of what the bands sound like or are sick of searching through endless venue and band myspaces, then The Roster is for you. We feature bios, audio-streams, set times, links to google maps and anything else we can get our hands on in the effort to let you know what is on and help you make up your mind on who to see.

We will also be providing plenty of news and show reviews but we don’t don’t wish to add to the ever increasing number of websites recycling Pitchfork news and reviewing the same touring internationals. Once again the focus will be on local acts, giving more bands a decent and engaged write-up, rather than a review from the perspective of some guy hearing the bass rumble through the venue walls as he waits in line to see this week’s headliner.

We are especially interested in the stuff that probably doesn’t get a lot of a mention in the local street-rags; the artspace shows, the loungeroom and kitchen shows and everything else a bit off the radar. We also recommend getting a soundcloud account up and running and letting us know so we can embed your songs on our listings.
